General AP World History (WHAP) Info
Coronavirus/School Updates
Please read this new announcement on 3/24.
We will be using Google Classroom instead of Weebly after today to communicate. Would you please add Mr. Jolley's WHAP 19-20 Google Classroom class as soon as you can using this code: zcsfkzo
We will still use turnitin.com to turn in DBQ's, LEQ's, and SAQ's. I will also keep the Weebly site up as a place to find review materials. Email me if you have questions or [email protected]
Thanks, Mr. Cash
Happy end-of-Spring-Break and to the start of a new adventure. I hope you had a fun and relaxing time off, and I hope you’re curious about how we’re going to “do school” in these strange and challenging times. I am, too. I wanted to let you know that I’m thinking about all of you and that I will be communicating with you very soon to let you know how and what we’ll be learning while we are “social distancing”. It will require us to be patient with one another as I learn new technology skills and you learn and study in perhaps new ways. I won’t know for sure how we’ll do these things for a few more days, so stay turned.
College Board has some coronavirus info at this link:
https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap/news-changes/coronavirus-update
Please set up a college board account if you don’t already have one and please read this info carefully. There will be more details by April 3rd, but the important things are that the test will be given on-line and that the test will only cover Units 1-6. So, we will have to review those exceptionally well. I’ll let you know how in a few days.
Those of you who did rewrites of the DBQ and/or the LEQ extra credit, please try and scan these essays and send them to me via email or take photos of them (this doesn’t usually work so well) and send them to me. Hopefully I can read them. If not, we’ll think of something else.
You will be turning work in to me in different ways while we do the on-line learning. One of those ways is using turnitin.com. You probably already have an account and just need to add my class. If not, you’ll have to set up a turnitin account and then add my class. The sign-up info is as follows:
Class Name: WHAP Period 2
Class ID: 21847464
Enrollment Key: demon
I’ve attached an editorial written by David Brooks to get you thinking about the times in which we live. I don’t like the title very much, but his message is one we will have to consider as we learn how to work together in a different way. Read it and go to turnitin.com and submit an answer to let me know what you think of the essay. Use CD’s from the essay and your personal experience to support your answer. Please complete this by Friday, 3/27.

Be safe, use good common sense, and be nice to your family and friends as we go through this together. Talk to you soon, Mr. Cash
Remember, the reading guide numbers correspond to the chapters in the Amsco book. I would urge you to read and understand as much history as you can while you're off in case we can't meet again for awhile. Go to review sites and, if possible, communicate with each other to review and learn. Email me at ecash@durangoschools.org if you have questions.
Please continue the "80 Days" extra credit.
Be safe and take all the necessary precautions to prevent sickness and the spreading of sickness. Enjoy your break.
Freemanpedia's 80 Days Offer
Keep a record of how you reviewed each day for the next 80 (79) days and I will give you one point for each day as a summative grade. You must have a chart, journal, etc. that has dates and specific descriptions of how your reviewed.
Homework and extra credit assignments are listed below.

--You must use sentence stems.
--You should write about two continuities and one change OR one continuity and two changes.
--You may come ask me questions.
--You must grade it using two different LEQ rubrics that I will provide for you.
--This perfect grade (as it should be) will go into IC summative grades twice.
--DBQ rewrites of the Industrial Revolution DBQ and LEQ extra credit essays are due Monday, 3/23.
--Reading guides 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3 are due Tuesday, 3/24.
--Reading guides 7.4 and 7.5 are due Friday, 3/27.
--We watched All Quiet on the Western Front (about World War I) instead of Lagaan. I've placed a link for it in the Unit 7 block. Watch it if possible. It will help you understand the history we will study after break.
